Or “How I did a backup/restore of my Mastodon server”
In the previous post I deployed a new Mastodon server … in this post I have “moved” this instance to a new cloud hosted server, which essentially is a backup and restore process.
I have no idea how many best practices I broke, but after reading several posts that partially gave me what to do, it worked :)
https://docs.joinmastodon.org/admin/backups/ (a couple of useful hints but a pretty terrible document really from the Mastodon team) https://www.
With the great #TwitterMigration of 2022 following a certain billionaire taking over and subsequently behaving in ways that do not sit well with many, including myself, the vast majority of my social media family moved to one of two Mastodon servers … https://infosec.exchange and https://hachyderm.io/ … I myself have my primary account hosted on InfoSec.Exchange … but one of the cool things about the Fediverse is that you can install and run your own server.
I love the product marketing discipline. It brings together a number of needs, requirements and capabilities to challenge you in ways I’ve not found in any other discipline.
It’s a gross simplification, and there are other business groups also, but essentially this is what happens in most organizations …
I have had the benefit of learning the PMM craft at companies with many years of iteration and honing, and now enjoy imparting that knowledge and helping others learn and leverage the impact that great product marketing can have.
